Mackerel are thick near shore still and we are seeing quite a few of them while trolling out and back on our five-hour half days.
We had monster triggerfish and were only two away from a boat limit on the triggerfish too.
Mackerel are super thick near shore right now from the beaches out to around 80ft of water. We are seeing them mostly around 30-60ft range using trolling spoons behind number one or two planners.
Exciting time to pelagic fish this weekend with the full moon moving plenty of water offshore and getting that bait up to the surface at night.
Try and make plans to fish as that front recedes prior to the full moon. So, Thursdays the day to call out sick this week and go fishing!
Hogfish action is steady near shore around that 40-80ft range. They slowed a bit for us, but we are hoping that had more to do with the weather than anything else.
Hogfish action is HOT near shore this past week! We are doing extremely well on the hogfish around that 40-80ft depth on our near shore trips like the 5 hour half day and 10 hour all days and the private fishing charters.
Red grouper have been spotty near shore, but as you work deeper your chances of finding a keeper sized red grouper get better and better. Larger strips of squid, whole threadfins with the tail cut, or live pinfish are great options for the red grouper.
Red grouper action is going well for us around that 100-120 ft area but the unfortunate part as of late is weather restricting our ability to get out there and really hunt for them in any fashion.
